PARISH DAY – A DAY OF FAITH AND FELLOWSHIP – 17-NOV-2024

The Parish Day celebration is a much-anticipated event that brings the entire parish community together to share in faith, fellowship, and brotherhood. This year, the celebration began with the Holy Qurbana at 8:00 AM, setting the tone for a spiritually enriching and joyous day.

The formal program commenced with an invocation song and the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing unity and the light of Christ in our community. Mr. James Jacob, Trustee, extended a warm welcome to everyone present. The Presidential Address was delivered by our parish priest, Msgr. Sunny Mathew Kunnampadavil CMF, who emphasized the importance of community and collective faith.

The program included the honoring of priests and nuns from our parish community, recognizing their invaluable contributions. The trustees were also honored for their dedicated service, alongside the office bearers of various associations, parish council members, and other special contributors, including the CA, accountants, sacristan, manager, secretary, and staff. Green Zone that received the highest points in the sports day competition were also felicitated.

The chief guest, Rev. Dr. Xavier Manavath CMF, Episcopal Vicar for Religious, Archdiocese of Bangalore, Manager of Claretian Institutions, and Superior of Claretian House, Jalahalli, delivered an inspiring felicitation speech. He highlighted the need for the parish community to support one another in faith and service.

This year, academic excellence was celebrated as well, with special recognition given to:

• Trinita M. Paul (SSLC), Pratheesha Avinash (CBSE), and Aleena Raju (ICSE) for topping the X Standard Board Exams.
• Alvia Vijay (PUC) and Maria Mathew (CBSE) for excelling in the XII Standard Board Exams.
• Sherin Mathew and Dr. Rose Mary M. Xavier were felicitated for achieving their doctorates this year.

A milestone for the parish was the official launch of the parish website, inaugurated by our parish priest, Msgr. Sunny Mathew CMF, marking a new era of digital connection and communication for the parish.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Paulson Thomas, Trustee. The celebrations continued with vibrant ward-wise cultural performances, showcasing the talents and creativity of parish members. The joyous day ended with a Snehavirunnu (fellowship meal), strengthening bonds within the community.

 

CATECHISM

CML Rally Participation and Poster Competition Victory

The Cherupushpa Mission League (CML) members from St. Thomas Church, Jalahalli, participated in a rally organized by the CML diocesan unit at Christ School, Dharmaram. As part of the ‘Year of Care’ activities for 2023-24, a poster-making competition was conducted, in which our talented children proudly secured the first prize.

 

The joyous occasion was further elevated when the winners received the trophy from His Excellency Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath, bringing immense pride to the parish. We congratulate our young participants for their creativity, teamwork, and dedication to the values promoted by the CML

 

 

 

First Semester Catechism Exam Successfully Conducted

The Catechism Department conducted the first semester exam on the 10th of November 2024, following the rules and guidance provided by the Commission for Bible and Catechetics (CBC), Mandya Diocese. Students from Std I to Std XII actively participated in the examination, showcasing their commitment to deepening their knowledge of the faith.

This well-organized event highlights the collective efforts of teachers, coordinators, and parents in ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for all.

 

Christ the King Rally – 24th November 2024

To instill in children the significance of the Feast of Christ the King, the Catechism Department at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, organized a vibrant rally on 24th November 2024.

Children enthusiastically participated, dressing as saints, angels, and Jesus Christ, while those who received their First Holy Communion last month donned their elegant white outfits. Holding handmade placards, the children marched with energy, raising slogans that echoed their faith and devotion.

The rally concluded at the main entrance of the church, where Msgr. Sunny Mathew, the parish vicar, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of honoring Christ as King in our daily lives. The event was witnessed and appreciated by the entire parish community, making it a memorable celebration of faith and unity.

 

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

Visit to Asha Bhavan, Mallur – 2nd October 2024

A 14-member team from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP) visited Asha Bhavan, Mallur on 2nd October 2024. During the visit, the team spent time with the Sisters, who shared the current situation of the orphanage, including the challenges faced by the new inmates. The team had the opportunity to meet all the residents, who presented cultural programs in gratitude for the visit.

The team also toured the ongoing extension work being carried out at the orphanage, designed to accommodate more children. As part of their support, the SSVP team donated groceries worth ₹20,000 and provided clothes for the inmates. Additionally, a contribution of ₹10,000 was made for the further development of the orphanage.

After a time of prayer and fellowship, including sharing a meal with the residents, the team returned, assuring the Sisters of continued support to help complete the new extension.

Visit to Akashaparavakal – 6th October 2024

As part of the ongoing ‘Year of Care Programme’, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, along with class 11th and 12th catechism students, organized a visit to Akashaparavakal’s Women’s Center, Thiritwa Ashrama in Nagwara on 6th October 2024. A total of 50 students and 12 members from the SSVP conference participated in this visit.

During the visit, the catechism students helped distribute monthly groceries valued at ₹20,000 to the inmates. The students also organized entertainment activities, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the residents. In return, the inmates presented cultural programs to show their appreciation.

The students actively participated in serving food and shared a meal with the inmates. A time of adoration and prayer was held in the chapel, fostering a deeper connection with the community. Before leaving, the Society made a ₹20,000 contribution to support the ongoing work at the Ashrama.

This visit was an enriching experience for the students, fostering a deeper sense of charity, kindness, and care for those in need.

STAARS PITHRUVEDHI

Diocesan Pithruvedi Day

On November 1st, around 25 members of the Stars Pithruvedi from St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, participated in the Diocesan Pithruvedi Day celebrations held at St. Alphonsa Forane Church, Sultanpalya. During the event, Assistant Vicar Fr. Joseph Thoombanal CMF, invited other parishes to participate in the upcoming Thoma Cup Inter-Parish Volleyball Tournament scheduled for December 8^th, 2024.

Parish Sports Events

The St. Thomas Parish Sports Competitions, organized under the leadership of Stars Pithruvedi, concluded with track and field events on November 10^th, 2024. The Parish Vicar inaugurated the competitions, which included several events held across multiple days.

Indoor Games: Conducted on September 22^nd, 2024

Tug of War: An intense and exciting competition held on October 13^th, 2024

Competitions were conducted by dividing the parish wards into four zones, adding a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.

The Green Zone, which secured the highest points, emerged as the Zone Champions and was awarded the Champion Trophy during the Parish Day celebrations on November 17^th, 2024. Prizes for winners across events were distributed by Stars Pithruvedi.

Stars Pithruvedi General Body Meeting

On Saturday, November 9th, Stars Pithruvedi convened a general body meeting. The agenda included:

• Evaluation of the Annual Celebrations held on October 20th
• Planning for the Thoma Cup on December 8th to ensure its successful execution
• Discussions on enhancing the effectiveness of Stars Pithruvedi’s charity initiatives

The meeting saw the active participation of the Parish Vicar, who provided valuable insights and guidance.

MATHRUVEDI

One-Day Program by Judith Forum

The Diocesan Mathruvedi Judith Forum organized a one-day program on November 26^th, 2024 at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli. Under the leadership of Mathruvedi Director Fr. Thomas Arimattam, the day began with a Rosary session and Holy Qurbana, led by Judith Forum members.

The public meeting that followed was graced by Vicar General Msgr. Sunny Mathew, Mathruvedi Director Fr. Thomas Arimattam CMF, Assistant Director Fr. Jismon Poonoly, and other diocesan executives.

The program concluded with an inspiring class by Sr. Josna SD, leaving participants with a fulfilling and enriching experience.

നവംബർ 1ന്  സെന്റ് അൽഫോൻസാ ദേവാലയ അങ്കണത്തിൽ നടന്ന രൂപത പിതൃ‌വേദി ദിനാഘോഷത്തിൽ ഇടവകയിൽ നിന്ന് സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ 25ഓളം അംഗങ്ങൾ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ഡിസംബർ 8ന് നടത്താനിരിക്കുന്ന തോമകപ്പ് ഇന്റർപാരിഷ് വോളിബാൾ ടൂർണമെന്റിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ മറ്റുള്ള ഇടവകകളെ അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് വികാരി Fr ജോസഫ് തൂമ്പനാൽ  ക്ഷണിച്ചു

ഇടവക   സ്പോർട്സ്

ജാലഹള്ളി സെന്റ് തോമസ് ഇടവക സ്പോർട്സ് മത്സരങ്ങൾ സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടന്നു.

നവംബർ 10ന് ട്രാക്ക് and ഫീൽഡ് മത്സരങ്ങളോടെ സ്പോർട്സിനു സമാപനമായി.  ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട വികാരിയച്ഛൻ മാത്സരങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉദ്ഘാടനം നിർവഹിച്ചു. പല ദിവസങ്ങളിലായി വിവിധ ഇനങ്ങളിൽ മത്സരങ്ങൾ നടക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. സെപ്റ്റംബർ 22ന് ഇൻഡോർ മത്സരങ്ങളും, ഒക്ടോബർ 13ന് വാശിയേറിയ വടംവലി മത്സരങ്ങളും നടന്നു. വിജയികൾക്ക് സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ സമ്മാനങ്ങൾ നൽകി.

ഇടവകയിലെ വാർഡുകളെ നാല് സോണുകളായി തിരിച്ചാണ് മത്സരങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയത്.

ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ പോയിന്റുകൾ നേടിയ ഗ്രീൻ സോൺ ചാമ്പ്യൻസോൺ ട്രോഫി കരസ്തമാക്കി. നവംബർ 17ന് നടന്ന ഇടവക ദിനത്തിൽ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാർക്ക് ട്രോഫി സമ്മാനിച്ചു.

സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി പൊതുയോഗം

നവംബർ 9 ശനിയാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ ഒരു പൊതുയോഗം കൂടുകയുണ്ടായി. ഒക്ടോബർ 20ന് നടന്ന വാർഷിക ആഘോഷങ്ങളുടെ വിലയിരുത്തലും, ഡിസംബർ 8ന് നടത്താനിരിക്കുന്ന തോമകപ്പ് മികച്ച രീതിയിൽ എങ്ങനെ നടത്താം എന്നും, സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ ചാരിറ്റി പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ കാര്യക്ഷമമാക്കാം എന്നും യോഗം ചർച്ച ചെയ്തു. യോഗത്തിൽ ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട വികാരിയച്ഛൻ പങ്കെടുത്തു.

മാതൃവേദി

രൂപത മാതൃവേദി ജൂഡിത്ത് ഫോറ ത്തിന്റെ വൺഡേ പ്രോഗ്രാം ജലഹള്ളി സെന്റ് തോമസ് ഫോറോന ഇടവകയിൽ വെച്ച്  നവംബർ ഇരുപത്തിയാറാം തിയ്യതി നടത്തപെട്ടു . മാതൃവേദി ഡയറക്ടർ ഫാദർ തോമസ് അരിമറ്റത്തിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ജൂഡിത് ഫോറം അംഗങ്ങൾ നയിച്ച ജപമാലക്കും വിശുദ്ധകുർബാനക്കും  ശേഷം പബ്ലിക് മീറ്റിങ്ങിൽ  വികാരി ജനറാൾ ഫാദർ സണ്ണി മാത്യു, മാതൃവേദി ഡയറക്ടർ ഫാദർ തോമസ് അറിമറ്റം, അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ഡയറക്ടർ ഫാദർ ജിസ്‌മോൻ പൂന്നോലിൽ, രൂപത എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ്സ് എന്നിവർ പങ്കെടുത്തു. അംഗങ്ങൾക്ക് നല്ലൊരു അനുഭവമായ സിസ്റ്റർ ജോസ്ന എസ് ഡി യുടെ ക്ലാസ്സോടെ വൺഡേ പ്രോഗ്രാം സമാപിച്ചു.
