The Good Samaritan Group (GSG), an initiative of STARS Pithruvedhi, was established in November 2021 with the mission of offering compassionate care to elderly parish members. Many seniors in our parish face challenges of loneliness and are often unable to access timely medical care due to the absence of a companion during hospital visits. Inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan in the Gospel, this group dedicates its time and effort to ensuring that no one in need of medical attention has to face it alone.

The GSG provides a range of services, including accompanying elderly parishioners to hospitals for consultations, dialysis, medical tests, and admissions. They offer a comforting presence, guiding them through pre-admission consultations, helping with procedures during hospitalization, and assisting with discharge formalities to ensure a smooth and safe return home. Whether it’s attending to the needs of a patient who requires regular medical visits, assisting accident victims, or offering support to those with caretakers who still struggle to manage on their own, the Good Samaritan Group extends its hands to care for those in need.

The beneficiaries of this initiative are elderly individuals living alone without caretakers, seniors with caretakers who are unable to manage them independently, parishioners requiring frequent hospital visits for consultations or procedures, and accident victims who need assistance during their recovery.

Through this initiative, the Good Samaritan Group continues to bring compassion, love, and support to those who are most vulnerable, embodying the true spirit of community care and solidarity.
