PARISH DIARY – JULY 2025

St Thomas Feast – Dukharana Celebrations – July 4th to 7th, 2025

The memorial feast of St. Thomas the Apostle is traditionally celebrated on July 3rd. This year, the Dukhrana celebrations at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli were held from July 4th to July 7th, 2025, with great spiritual fervor and parish participation.

The celebration began on Friday, July 4th with the Flag Hoisting by Msgr. Sunny Kunnampadavil CMF, the Vicar of St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli. This was followed by a solemn Holy Qurbana and Ladeenu led by Rev. Fr. Asher Mathew Kochuparambil MSFS, Assistant Vicar of St. Mary’s Church, Panathur. Special prayers were offered for the intentions of various saints and religious communities.

On Saturday, July 5th, the evening celebration included Holy Qurbana, Message, and Ladeenu by Rev. Fr. Sinoj Pattathil CMF, Administrator of Claretian Novitiate House, Carmelaram. The evening was enriched with special intercessory prayers and concluded with a dramatic portrayal of St. Joseph’s life, titled “Thachan.”

The main celebration took place on Sunday, July 6th, beginning with the blessing ceremony of the Presudenthi by Rev. Dr. Mathew Alex Moothedam CMF. The Concelebrated Rasa Qurbana was led by Rev. Fr. Mathew Keechira CMF, followed by the Message and Ladeenu by Rev. Fr. Joseph Thoompanal CMF. A vibrant procession followed, accompanied by Chendamelam by Dhwani Tharangam Kalasamithi (Calicut), Bandmelam by Angel Voice Amballoor (Thrissur), and concluded with a joyful agape.

The celebrations ended on Monday, July 7th with an early morning Holy Qurbana and Oppesa at both cemeteries, offered for the departed souls of the parish. The liturgy was celebrated by Msgr. Sunny Kunnampadavil CMF, Rev. Fr. Joseph Thoompanal CMF, and Rev. Dr. Mathew Alex Moothedam CMF.

The four-day celebration was a rich spiritual experience for the parish community, marked by prayer, reflection, and joyful fellowship in honour of St. Thomas the Apostle, our patron and missionary model.

 

Joint Parish Council Meeting – 12th July 2025

A Joint Parish Council Meeting was held on 12th July 2025, during which the newly elected council members were warmly welcomed, and the outgoing members were sincerely thanked for their dedicated service and contributions to the parish community.

Following the withdrawal of one of the trustees, a re-election was conducted during the meeting. Mr. Johns Varghese was elected as the new trustee.

 

Oath Taking – Trustees – 13th July 2025

The new Trustees took charge on 13th July 2025. During the 8:30 AM Holy Qurbana the trustees took oath and assumed their new responsibilities. All the outgoing Trustees were given a memento as a token of appreciation and gratitude for all their hard work and efforts.

CATECHISM

Inauguration of CML and Holy Childhood – June 29, 2025

The inauguration of the Catholic Mission League (CML) and Holy Childhood for the academic year 2025–2026 was held on June 29th, 2025, following the Catechism Qurbana. A children’s rally was organized as part of the celebration. During the event, newly elected leaders of both CML and Holy Childhood were formally introduced and took charge of their responsibilities. The CML students performed an energetic flash mob based on a Praise and Worship song, adding a joyful spirit to the occasion.

Participation in Diocese-Level Vocation Day – July 20, 2025

The Diocese-level Vocation Day, organized by Pithruvedi, was held on July 20th at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli. The event was presided over by His Excellency Mar Sebastian Adyanthrath, Bishop of Mandya Diocese.

Twenty-two students along with parent representatives from our parish participated in the event. Sr. Julie Maria conducted an engaging session which received a positive response from the children. During the session, students had the valuable opportunity to interact directly with the Bishop, priests, and religious sisters. They asked thoughtful questions regarding faith, religious life, and vocations.

On behalf of the parents, Mrs. Sonia Thampy, mother of Br. Gladwin, addressed the gathering. The event provided the children with a deeper understanding of their spiritual calling and inspired them to discern a vocation to the priesthood or religious life.

 

YOUTH

St. Thomas Feast – STYF Participation

On 5th July 2025, the STYF successfully set up and managed a vibrant stall on the second day of the St. Thomas Feast. The stall delighted attendees with a variety of delicious snacks and refreshing beverages. The interactive game zones were a major attraction, drawing enthusiastic participation—especially from children—and adding energy and excitement to the celebration. This initiative brought joy to many and contributed significantly to the festive spirit of the day.

On 6th July 2025, the third day of the feast, STYF members played a key role in the grand procession by reverently carrying the statue of St. Joseph. They also extended their full support to the STARS Pithruvedi, helping ensure the smooth execution and success of the event. Their service and presence truly enriched the celebration.

Holy Blaze – A Night of Reflection and Fellowship

On 12th July 2025, STYF hosted Holy Blaze—an intimate and spirit-filled evening of prayer, reflection, fellowship, and community bonding. Over 45 enthusiastic youth members gathered for this memorable experience, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere rooted in faith.

The evening featured a bonfire, soulful music, interactive games, and a delightful dinner, all of which encouraged meaningful interactions and new friendships. A highlight of the evening was the inspiring session by Rev. Fr. Anoop Mundackal CSSR, which invited the youth into deeper reflection and a more personal connection with their faith.

Holy Blaze proved to be a truly uplifting event—leaving lasting memories and strengthening the spiritual bond within the youth community.

Vocational Promotion Day – STYF Volunteers in Action

On 20th July 2025, a group of 10–12 STYF members volunteered their time and effort to support the Vocational Promotion Day organized by the STARS Pithruvedi. They assisted with registrations, ensuring the process was smooth, organized, and welcoming for all attendees.

The STARS Pithruvedi Team expressed sincere gratitude to STYF for their dedicated support and excellent coordination, which played a key role in the event’s success.

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

As part of the Year of Care initiative, the members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Jalahalli Conference, undertook two significant outreach visits during the month of June 2025. On June 1st, seven members visited the Akashaparavakal Thirumugham Ashram in Lakshmipura. The Society extended support by providing monthly groceries worth ₹25,000 along with an additional cash contribution of ₹5,000. The members also shared a fellowship meal with the residents, making it a heartwarming and spiritually enriching experience.

Later in the month, on June 29th, six members visited Asha Bhavan, an orphanage in Mallur that has been supported by the Society in the past. The purpose of the visit was to assess the infrastructure developments undertaken with the Society’s assistance. The members spent quality time with the children and the Sisters managing the home, who expressed their deep appreciation for the continued support. During the visit, the Society provided groceries worth ₹10,000 and contributed ₹5,000 in cash. The day concluded with a prayer in the chapel, where the members reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing support for the institution.

These visits reflected the Society’s unwavering mission to serve the poor and marginalized with compassion, humility, and love.

MATHRUVEDHI

On July 6th, as part of the St. Thomas Feast celebrations, Mathruvedi members actively participated in the grand procession by reverently carrying the holy image of Mother Mary. A vibrant food stall was also organized, with members contributing wholeheartedly to the hospitality arrangements, adding to the spirit of fellowship and celebration.

On July 10th, the parish hosted the Forane-level Mathruvedi meeting, which was coordinated by representatives from our unit, reflecting the leadership and commitment of our members.

On July 3th, the feast of Rosa Mystica was observed with great devotion. Mathruvedi members led the Holy Mass, and a meeting followed, during which the newly elected office bearers formally assumed their responsibilities, marking a new chapter of service and dedication

On July 20th, as part of their charitable outreach, Mathruvedi members visited the Trithwa Ashram of Akashaparavakal in Thanisandra. Essential grocery items and a generous financial contribution were handed over to support the residents, embodying the spirit of compassion and service.

STARS PITHRUVEDI

For the year 2025–26, new office bearers were elected to lead the STARS Pithruvedi, Jalahalli Unit. Mr. Cyril K. Babu was elected as President, Mr. Raju Antony as Vice President, Mr. Shimil Paul as Secretary, Mr. Sanil George as Joint Secretary, and Mr. Jills Peter as Treasurer. The newly elected team officially assumed their responsibilities by taking an oath during the Holy Qurbana on July 13th, 2025.

In collaboration with the Malayalam Mission Karnataka Chapter, STARS Pithruvedi launched Kannada language classes to serve the needs of the parish community. The official inauguration was held on July 13th at St. Thomas Parish Hall. The event was presided over by the parish vicar, Msgr. Sunny Mathew, and the classes were formally inaugurated by Asst. Vicar Fr. Joseph Thoompanal. Office bearers from STARS Pithruvedi, the Malayalam Mission, and the Kannada Mission were present and addressed the gathering. Around 150 parishioners expressed interest in learning Kannada, and over 100 individuals enrolled on the same day. Registrations have continued to grow. The classes are conducted every Sunday from 10:15 AM to 11:30 AM, following the 8:30 AM Holy Qurbana, and will continue for a period of three months. The goal of the course is to enable participants to read, write, and speak Kannada confidently. The sessions are progressing smoothly under the guidance of the Pithruvedi office bearers and unit coordinators.

On July 20th, the Jalahalli Unit of STARS Pithruvedi had the privilege of hosting the Diocesan Vocational Promotion Day, an initiative organized by the Mandya Diocese to foster vocations among children. The event was held at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, and was attended by over 400 participants, including children, parents, catechism teachers, and Pithruvedi members from various parishes across the diocese. The program was held under the leadership of Bishop Mar Sebastian, with the presence of Vicar General Fr. Sunny Kunnampadavil, Diocesan Pithruvedi Director Fr. Augustine Puthiyedathuchalil, Diocesan Vocation Promoter Fr. Paul Manjooran, and Rector of the Minor Seminary Fr. Rony Puthenveettil. Several other priests and unit leaders also graced the occasion.

Following the addresses by the bishop and clergy, brothers and sisters from various religious congregations shared their vocation stories with the children, offering valuable inspiration and insight into their spiritual journeys. The catechism children of St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, presented a heartfelt devotional song that added a touching and spiritual element to the day. This was followed by a vibrant Q&A session, where children posed thoughtful questions, which were answered with care and depth by the priests, brothers, and sisters. As part of supporting vocations, various parishes handed over sponsorship cheques to Fr. Rony Puthenveettil, Rector of the Minor Seminary. Representing the Jalahalli Unit, the treasurer, Mr. Jills Peter, presented their contribution. The day concluded with a warm fellowship meal, marking a blessed and memorable gathering that will undoubtedly inspire many young hearts to listen to God’s call.

കന്നഡ ക്ലാസുകൾ ആരംഭിച്ചു

STARS – PITHRUVEDI മലയാളം മിഷൻ കർണാടക ചാപ്റ്ററുമായി ചേർന്ന് നടത്താൻ തീരുമാനിച്ച കന്നഡ ക്ലാസ്സുകളുടെ ഔപചാരികമായ ഉദ്‌ഘാടനം ജൂലൈ 13 ആം തിയതി സെന്റ്‌. തോമസ് പാരിഷ് ഹാളിൽ വച്ച് നടത്തപ്പെടുകയുണ്ടായി. ഇടവക വികാരി Msgr. സണ്ണി മാത്യു അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച യോഗത്തിൽ അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് വികാരി Fr. ജോസഫ് തൂമ്പനാൽ കന്നഡ ക്ലാസ്സുകളുടെ ഉദ്‌ഘാടനം നിർവഹിക്കുകയുണ്ടായ . സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദി ഭാരവാഹികൾ, മലയാളം മിഷൻ, കന്നഡ മിഷൻ ഭാരവാഹികൾ എന്നിവർ പ്രസ്തുത യോഗത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു സംസാരിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. യോഗത്തിൽ 150 ഓളം കന്നഡ പഠിക്കാൻ താല്പര്യമുള്ള ഇടവകക്കാർ പങ്കെടുത്തു. 100 അധികം ആളുകൾ അന്നുതന്നെ ക്ലാസ്സിൽ ചേരുകയുണ്ടായി.ഇപ്പോളും ആളുകൾ ചേർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാ ഞായറാഴ്ചയും 8 :30 am  വി.കുർബാനക്ക്  ശേഷം  10 :15 am മുതൽ 11 :30 വരെ ക്ലാസുകൾ നടത്തപ്പെടും. 3 മാസമാണ് ക്ലാസ്സിന്റെ കാലാവധി. കന്നഡ വായിക്കാനും, എഴുതാനും, പറയാനും ക്ലാസ്സിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നവരെ പ്രാപ്തരാക്കുക എന്നതാണ് കോഴ്‌സിന്റെ ലക്‌ഷ്യം. സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദി ഭാരവാഹികളുടെയും യൂണിറ്റ് കോർഡിനേറ്റർസിന്റെയും മേൽനോട്ടത്തിൽ ക്ലാസുകൾ വിജയകരമായി മുൻപോട്ടു പോകുന്നു.

 

ദൈവവിളി ദിനത്തിനു ആതിഥ്യം വഹിച്ചു

കുട്ടികളിലെ ദൈവവിളിയെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെ പിതൃവേദി മാന്ധ്യ രൂപതയുടെ ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തിൽ ജൂലൈ 20 – ആം തിയതി നടത്തപ്പെട്ട ദൈവവിളി ദിനത്തിന് സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദി സെൻറ് തോമസ് ഫൊറോനാ ദേവാലയം,ജാലഹള്ളി ആതിഥ്യം വഹിച്ചു.

ജാലഹള്ളി സെൻറ്‌. തോമസ് ഇടവകയിൽ വെച്ച്  നടത്തപ്പെട്ട രൂപതാ ദൈവവിളി ദിനത്തിൽ രൂപതയുടെ വിവിധ ഇടവകകളിൽ നിന്നായി കുട്ടികളും മാതാപിതാക്കളും മതാധ്യാപകരും പിതൃവേദി അംഗങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടെ 400 ഓളം പേർ പങ്കെടുത്തു. രൂപതാധ്യക്ഷൻ മാർ. സെബാസ്റ്റ്യൻ പിതാവിന്റെ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷതയിൽ ചേർന്ന യോഗത്തിൽ രൂപത വികാരി ജനറാൾ ഫാദർ. സണ്ണി കുന്നംപടവിൽ പിതൃവേദി രൂപത ഡയറക്ടർ ഫാദർ അഗസ്റ്റിൻ പുതിയേടത്തുചാലിൽ, രൂപത വൊക്കേഷൻ പ്രൊമോട്ടർ ഫാദർ പോൾ മാഞ്ഞൂരാൻ, മൈനർ സെമിനാരി റെക്ടർ ഫാദർ റോണി പുത്തൻവീട്ടിൽ,പിതൃവേദി രൂപതാ,യൂണിറ്റ് ഭാരവാഹികൾ എന്നിവർ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു. രൂപതാധ്യക്ഷന്റെയും മറ്റു വൈദികരുടെയും അഭിസംബോധനകൾക്കു ശേഷം വിവിധ കോൺഗ്രിഗേഷനിൽ നിന്നുള്ള brothers ഉം  സിസ്റ്റേഴ്‌സും അവരുടെ ദൈവവിളി അനുഭവങ്ങൾ കുട്ടികളുമായി  പങ്കുവെക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.തീർച്ചയായും ഈ അനുഭവങ്ങൾ കുട്ടികൾക്ക് അവരുടെ ദൈവവിളികളെ കണ്ടെത്തുവാനും പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുവാനും പ്രചോദനമായി തീരും. സെൻറ് തോമസ് Forane Church ജാലഹള്ളി കാറ്റിക്കിസം കുട്ടികൾ ആലപിച്ച  ഭക്തി ഗാനം വളരെ  ഹൃദ്യമായിരുന്നു.അതിനു ശേഷം കുട്ടികൾക്കായി നൽകപ്പെട്ട ചോദ്യോത്തര വേള കുട്ടികളുടെ പങ്കാളിത്തം കൊണ്ട് വളരെ ശ്രെദ്ധേയമായി. കുട്ടികളുടെ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾക്കു പിതാവും മറ്റു വൈദികരും, brothers, സിസ്റ്റേഴ്സ് എന്നിവർ മറുപടി നൽകി. സെമിനാറിൻസിനെ സ്പോൺസർ ചെയ്യാനായി മുന്പോട്ടുവന്ന ഇടവകകൾ നൽകിയ ചെക്കുകൾ യൂണിറ്റ് പ്രതിനിധികൾ മൈനർ സെമിനാരി റെക്ടർ ഫാദർ റോണി പുത്തൻവീട്ടിലിനു  സമർപ്പിക്കുകയുമായി. സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദി ജാലഹള്ളി യൂനിറ്റിനിവേണ്ടി ട്രെഷറർ ശ്രീ.ജിൽസ് ചെക്ക് സമർപ്പിച്ചു.സ്‌നേഹവിരുന്നോടെ യോഗം അവസാനിച്ചു.
