JUBILEE YEAR INAUGURATION – 2^nd FEB 2025

The inauguration of the Jubilee Year at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, was a spiritually uplifting event. The ceremony was led by the parish priest, Msgr. Sunny Mathew CMF (James Kunnampadavil), who lit the Jubilee Year candle, symbolizing the beginning of this grace-filled year. Parishioners participated joyfully, marking the commencement of a time dedicated to spiritual renewal and reflection.

This Jubilee Year, declared by the Pope as a “Jubilee Year of Hope,” offers the faithful unique opportunities for spiritual growth, including the possibility of receiving plenary indulgences. A plenary indulgence grants a complete remission of temporal punishment due to sin and can be applied to oneself or souls in Purgatory. To receive this grace, the faithful must fulfill specific devotional acts and meet the usual conditions, including sacramental confession, receiving the Holy Eucharist, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions.

 

St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, has been designated as one of the pilgrimage sites in the Diocese of Mandya where plenary indulgences shall be made available during the Jubilee Year. Special arrangements will be made, including confession facilities, designated prayer spaces, and spiritual counseling, to assist pilgrims in receiving this special grace.

 

As the faithful of St. Thomas Forane Church journey through this sacred year, it promises to be a time of spiritual renewal, embracing the hope and blessings of the Jubilee Year.

ANNUAL RETREAT AT ST. THOMAS FORANE CHURCH: A TIME FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

The Annual Retreat of St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, was held from February 20 to 23, 2025, offering a sacred time of reflection, renewal, and deepened faith for parishioners. As previously announced, the retreat began on Thursday evening, inviting the faithful to set aside these four days for spiritual enrichment, drawing closer to the Lord, and receiving abundant blessings.

The retreat was animated by Rev. Fr. Jison Paul Vengassery, a renowned preacher from the Changanassery Diocese, known for his spiritually uplifting sessions. Parishioners experienced Holy Qurbana, Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, and guided reflections, fostering an atmosphere of grace and renewal.

 

A special focus on the first day was dedicated to the children and youth of the parish, as many were preparing for their exams. The community united in prayer for their success and well-being, seeking God’s wisdom and strength for them.

 

This year’s retreat was particularly significant as it coincided with the Jubilee Year declared by Pope Francis, under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” In response to the Holy Father’s call, the retreat became a powerful journey of faith, inviting parishioners to reflect, seek reconciliation, and renew their commitment to God. It also provided an opportunity to receive plenary indulgences, allowing the faithful to experience the depths of God’s mercy and grace.

 

The retreat witnessed an overwhelming participation from parishioners, who came together as a faith-filled community to pray, reflect, and encounter God’s love. It was truly a blessed and transformative experience, leaving hearts renewed and spirits strengthened.

CATECHISM

Annual Catechism Exam – February 2, 2025

In accordance with the guidelines set by the Mandya Diocese, the second-semester catechism exam for the academic year 2024-25 was successfully conducted on February 2, 2025. The exam took place after the 8:30 AM Holy Qurbana, with catechism teachers ensuring a smooth and well-organized assessment process for the students.

Faith Formation Forane Council Meeting – February 23, 2025

The inaugural Faith Formation Forane Council Meeting was held on February 23, 2025, at 4:00 PM at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli. The meeting brought together Forane Council members from Jalahalli, Sultanpalya, and Mathikere Foranes, marking an important step in strengthening faith formation initiatives.

 

The session was presided over by Fr. Paul Manjooran (CBC Mandya Director), Msgr. Sunny Mathew (Vicar General of Mandya Diocese and Vicar of St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli), Fr. Vijoy Kallingal (Forane Director – Jalahalli), Fr. Bijoy (Forane Director – Mathikere), Mr. Joseph Eappachan (CBC Mandya Assistant Director)

 

During his address, Fr. Paul Manjooran emphasized the roles and responsibilities of Forane Council members, highlighting their vital role in enhancing faith formation programs. He encouraged all Forane Councils to conduct internal meetings to plan and organize events such as Bible quizzes, retreats, and summer camps for the 2025-26 academic year.

 

The meeting concluded with a brief prayer and refreshments, leaving members motivated and prepared for the upcoming year’s faith formation activities.

 

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli, actively carried out its mission of service and compassion through various initiatives in January 2025. These outreach programs provided meaningful opportunities for parishioners, especially the youth, to engage in acts of charity and spiritual growth.

 

Visit to Akashaparavakal Thirumugham Ashram – January 5, 2025

As part of the Year of Care Programme, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, along with Class 7 and 8 catechism students, visited Akashaparavakal Thirumugham Ashram in Lakshmipura. This initiative aimed to extend both material and emotional support to the residents.

 

Support Provided:

• Monthly groceries worth ₹25,000 were donated.
• An additional ₹10,000 was contributed by the society.

 

Activities Conducted:

• The students organized and performed entertainment programs for the residents.
• They actively participated in serving lunch, followed by a shared meal with the inmates.

This experience had a profound impact on the students, helping them gain a deeper understanding of compassion and service. Their interactions with the residents made the visit a truly enriching and meaningful one.

 

Prison Visit – January 11, 2025

A group of 27 parishioners, including 9 members from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and 18 Catholic Movement for Laity (CML) students, visited the Open Prison in Devanahalli. This annual outreach program sought to bring joy, hope, and solidarity to the inmates through acts of kindness and spiritual engagement.

 

Highlights of the Visit:

• The CML students performed cultural programs and Christmas carols, spreading festive cheer.
• Francis Kodiyan provided an insightful talk on the life and rehabilitation of inmates in the Open Prison system.
• Cakes and gifts were distributed to the 50 inmates, creating moments of warmth and joy.
• Our church contributed toiletry kits and Christmas cakes as part of the outreach effort.

During the visit, the group had meaningful interactions with the inmates, fostering empathy and understanding. They also discussed a proposal by Fr. Francis Kodiyan regarding the potential release of some prisoners and assured their support in this initiative.

 

The visit was a deeply moving and educational experience for the CML students, reinforcing the values of mercy, forgiveness, and social responsibility. This program concluded the Annual Prison Visit for the year.

 

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul remains committed to continuing its mission of service and charity, inspiring parishioners—young and old—to live out their faith through acts of love and kindness.

Stars Pithruvedi

Excursion – January 25 & 26, 2025

A two-day excursion was organized for the Stars Pithruvedi members on January 25 and 26, 2025. A group of more than 40 members set out on the morning of the 25th and visited various places in Wayanad, returning by evening on the 26th. This trip provided a refreshing break for the members and strengthened the bond of fellowship within the Stars Pithruvedi community.

 

Charity Initiative

As part of its ongoing charity efforts, Stars Pithruvedi identified a Naturopathy Treatment Center operating under the Mandya Diocese that was in need of support.

With the guidance and intervention of Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Sunny, Rev. Fr. Roy Vattakunnel, and former Mandya Diocese Pithruvedi President Mr. Darley Kuriakose, this service center was identified.

 

To further understand the center’s needs, a special committee was formed under the leadership of the Stars Pithruvedi President, and a visit was conducted. The center’s activities are led by Rev. Fr. Jomit, who oversees its operations.

 

Based on the committee’s recommendations, it was decided that Stars Pithruvedi would donate ₹4,00,000 to support the revival of the traditional herbal medicine production unit at the Naturopathy Treatment Center. This initiative aims to enhance the center’s ongoing charitable work, benefiting not only the local community but also the entire diocese and people beyond in the future.

 

Special General Meeting – February 2, 2025

A special general meeting was convened on February 2, 2025, by Stars Pithruvedi, extending an invitation to all parishioners to participate. The meeting was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Roy Vattakunnel, Rev. Fr. Jomit, Parish Vicar Rev. Msgr. Sunny Mathew, Former Mandya Diocese Pithruvedi President Mr. Darley Kuriakose.

During the meeting, President Mr. Anoj Philip gave an introductory address, outlining the various initiatives undertaken by Stars Pithruvedi. Rev. Fr. Roy Vattakunnel elaborated on the charitable initiatives led by the Mandya Diocese and the various activities of Jyothirvikas Kendra. Following this, Rev. Fr. Jomit provided a detailed explanation of the operations of the Naturopathy Treatment Center and its associated social service and medical outreach programs. Parish Vicar Rev. Msgr. Sunny conveyed his appreciation for the center’s service and extended his best wishes for its continued growth.

 

As a token of support, the Treasurer of Stars Pithruvedi, Mr. Jills Peter, handed over the donation amount to Rev. Fr. Jomit.

ജനുവരി 25, 26 തീയ്യതികളിൽ സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി അംഗങ്ങൾക്കായി ഒരു ദ്വിദിന വിനോദയാത്ര സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. 40 ൽ അധികം അംഗങ്ങളുടെ സംഘം 25ന് രാവിലെ പുറപ്പെട്ട് വയനാടിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ സന്ദർശിച്ച് 26ന് വൈകിട്ട് തിരിച്ചെത്തി. സാറ്റർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി അംഗങ്ങൾക്ക് മാനസിക ഉല്ലാസം പ്രദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നതിലേക്കായി ഒരുക്കിയ വിനോദയാത്ര അംഗങ്ങളുടെ പരസ്പര കൂട്ടായ്മ ഊട്ടിയുറപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും സഹായകമായി.

സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി ചെയ്തു വരുന്ന ചാരിറ്റി പ്രവർത്തങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗമായി  നമ്മുടെ സഹായം ആവശ്യമുള്ള മണ്ട്യ രൂപതയുടെ മേൽനോട്ടത്തിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രകൃതി ചികിത്സ കേന്ദ്രം കണ്ടെത്തുകയുണ്ടായി.

 

ജാലഹള്ളി ഇടവക വികാരി ബഹു: സണ്ണിയച്ചന്റെയും , ബഹു: റോയ് വട്ടക്കുന്നേൽ അച്ചന്റെയും, മണ്ട്യ രൂപത പിതൃ‌വേദി മുൻ പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ ശ്രീ ഡാർലി കുര്യാക്കോസിന്റെയും സഹായത്തോടെയും ഇടപെടലിലൂടെയുമാണ് ഈ സേവന കേന്ദ്രം കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.

കേന്ദ്രത്തെപ്പറ്റി കൂടുതൽ അറിയുന്നതിനും പഠിക്കുന്നതിനുമായി സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി പ്രസിഡന്റിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ഒരു സ്പെഷ്യൽ കമ്മിറ്റി രൂപീകരിക്കുകയും, പ്രസ്തുത കേന്ദ്രം സന്ദർശിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു . ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട ഫാ: ജോമിറ്റ് ആണ് ഈ കേന്ദ്രത്തിലെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകുന്നത്. സ്പെഷ്യൽ കമ്മിറ്റി നൽകിയ ശുപാർശ പ്രകാരം, സമീപവാസികൾക്ക് വളരെ അധികം കാരുണ്യപ്രവർത്തികൾ നടത്തി വരുന്ന, ഭാവിയിൽ മൊത്തം രൂപതാ ജനങ്ങൾക്കും പുറമെയുള്ളവർക്കും സഹായകമയേക്കാവുന്ന പ്രകൃതിചികിത്സാ കേന്ദ്രത്തിലെ പാരമ്പര്യ മരുന്ന് നിർമാണ യൂണിറ്റ് പുനരുജ്ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള സഹായമായി സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി 4.00 ലക്ഷം രൂപ സംഭാവന ചെയ്യുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.

 

ഫെബ്രുവരി 2ന് സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി ഒരു  പ്രത്യേക പൊതുയോഗം വിളിക്കുകയും മറ്റുള്ള ഇടവക ജനങ്ങളെ യോഗത്തിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു

മണ്ട്യ രൂപതയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടന്നുവരുന്ന ചാരിറ്റി പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും ജ്യോതിർവികാസ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും ഫാ: റോയ് വട്ടക്കുന്നേൽ വിശദീകരിച്ചു.  തുടർന്ന് ഫാ: ജോമിറ്റ്, പ്രകൃതി ചികിത്സാ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും അതോടനുബന്ധിച്ചു് നടക്കുന്ന സാമൂഹ്യ സേവന ചികിത്സാ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും വിശദമായി സംസാരിച്ചു. ഇടവക വികാരി സണ്ണിയച്ചൻ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക് ഭാവുകങ്ങൾ നേർന്നു. തുടർന്ന് സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ എളിയ സംഭാവന ട്രെഷറർ ശ്രീ ജിൽസ് പീറ്റർ ഫാ ജോമിറ്റിന് കൈമാറി.
