PARISH DIARY – JUNE 2025

Annual General Body Meeting – Puthu Yogam – 22-June-2025

The Annual General Body Meeting of the parish was held on 22nd June 2025 and was attended by all Parish Council Members and the heads of families. The meeting began with a prayer by our vicar Rev. Msgr Sunny Mathew CMF.

The previous year’s annual report, this year’s report, and the financial accounts were presented by the trustees: Mr. Thamby Alappat, Mr. James Jacob, Mr. Paulson Thomas, and Mr. Boby John. This was followed by a general discussion and suggestions from the assembly. The new trustees Mr. Paulson Thomas, Mr. John Binze, Mr. Yohanna P T and Mr. Ajesh Mathew were elected for the term 2025-2026.

Catechism – June 2025

Parish-Level Inauguration of Catechism Classes for the Academic Year 2025–26 – 01-June-2025

The Catechism academic year 2025–26 was officially inaugurated at St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli. The solemn event began with the lighting of the lamp by Parish Vicar Msgr. Fr. Sunny Mathew, Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Mathew Muthedam, Retreat Preacher Fr. Jison Paul, HM Ms. Sunie Paul, and other dignitaries.

Following the Holy Qurbana, over twenty catechism teachers took the Teacher’s Oath, led by the Vicar. They pledged to guide the children of our parish in their faith journey, lead pious lives, and serve as role models. Each teacher then received a special blessing.

Teacher Training Session – 01-June-2025

On the same day, Fr. Jison Paul led a special session for the catechism teachers. He focused on the values and teachings of the Syro Malabar Church and highlighted the essential role of catechists in the faith formation of children.

He encouraged teachers to move beyond textbook teaching, using methods that foster a deeper, joyful understanding of faith — not fear or obligation.

Parent Orientation Programme – 8th June 2025

After the 8:30 AM Holy Qurbana, Fr. Paul Manjooran, Director of Catechism, led a special parent orientation session. He spoke about the growing challenges that children face in Bangalore and urged parents to take an active role in their child’s faith journey.

He emphasized the importance of attending catechism classes and Holy Qurbana regularly. A short interactive session for teachers followed.

Basic Catechism Training (BCT) – 15th June 2025

A diocesan-level foundational training programme—Basic Catechism Training (BCT)—was conducted on 15th June, with participation from over 100 teachers from various parishes of the Mandya Diocese.

The session was graced by Fr. Paul Manjooran (Director of Catechism) and Msgr. Fr. Sunny Mathew (Vicar), and organized by Assistant Director Mr. Joseph Eapachan and HM Ms. Sunie Paul of St. Thomas Forane Church, Jalahalli.

This full-day programme aimed to reinforce the mission and responsibilities of catechism teachers and build a strong catechetical foundation for the diocese.

SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL

Visit to Akashaparavakal Thirumugham Ashram – 4th May 2025

As part of the “Year of Care” initiative, seven members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society from our parish visited Akashaparavakal Thirumugham Ashram, located in Lakshmipura. The visit was marked by compassion and solidarity, as the team extended both material and emotional support to the residents of the ashram.

The Society generously donated monthly groceries worth ₹25,000, along with an additional cash contribution of ₹5,000 to assist with the ashram’s needs. The visit was made more meaningful by sharing a fellowship meal with the residents, fostering a spirit of care and community.

MATHRUVEDHI

In celebration of World Environment Day, the members of Mathruvedhi from our parish came together to plant saplings in the churchyard on Sunday, 8th June 2025. This green initiative was a small yet meaningful step toward caring for creation and promoting environmental awareness within the community.

STAARS PITHRUVEDHI

Annual General Body Meeting and Family Gathering

The Annual General Body Meeting and Family Gathering of the STAARS Pithruvedi was held on Saturday, 14th June 2025, at the parish hall.

The event was organized under the leadership of Mr. Anoj Philip, President of STAARS Pithruvedi. The meeting was presided over by Rev. Msgr. Sunny Mathew CMF, the parish vicar, with Rev. Fr. Xavier Manavath CMF as the chief guest. Diocesan Pithruvedi Vice President Mr. Thamby Alappat extended his greetings.

The annual activity report was presented by Secretary Mr. Raju Antony, and the income and expenditure statement was presented by Treasurer Mr. Jills Peter.

The new office bearers for the year were elected as follows:

Over 200 people participated in the meeting. Following the formal proceedings, a musical evening presented by members and a grand fellowship meal added joy and warmth to the occasion.

വാർഷിക പൊതുയോഗവും കുടുംബ സംഗമവും

സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ വാർഷിക പൊതുയോഗവും കുടുംബ സംഗമവും ജൂൺ 14 ശനിയാഴ്ച ജാലഹള്ളി സെന്റ് തോമസ് പള്ളി പാരിഷ് ഹാളിൽ നടത്തുകയുണ്ടായി.

സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃ‌വേദി പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ ശ്രീ അനോജ് ഫിലിപ്പിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച യോഗത്തിൽ ബഹു: വികാരി സണ്ണിയച്ഛൻ അധ്യക്ഷനും, ഫാ: സേവിയർ മണവത്ത് മുഖ്യ അതിഥിയും ആയിരുന്നു. രൂപതാ പിതൃ‌വേദി വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ ശ്രീ തമ്പി ആലപ്പാട്ട് ആശംസകൾ നേർന്നു. സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദി സെക്രട്ടറി രാജു ആന്റണി ഒരു വർഷത്തെ പ്രവർത്തന റിപ്പോർട്ടും, ട്രഷറര്‍ ജിൽസ് പീറ്റർ വരവ് ചിലവ് കണക്കുകളും അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.

യോഗത്തിൽ  സ്റ്റാർസ് പിതൃവേദിയുടെ പുതിയ ഭാരവാഹികളെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

200ൽ അധികം ആളുകൾ യോഗത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു.

പൊതുയോഗത്തിനു ശേഷം സംഘടനാ അംഗങ്ങൾ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച സംഗീത വിരുന്നും വിഭവ സമൃദ്ധമായ സ്നേഹവിരുന്നും ഒരുക്കിയിരുന്നു.

San Thome Youth Front (STYF)

June 2025 marked a new beginning for the San Thome Youth Front as the outgoing council graciously stepped down, paving the way for a new team to take charge. The day was filled with appreciation for the previous council, acknowledging their efforts in successfully leading the Youth Front, and offering heartfelt wishes to the newly elected members as they assumed their roles.

The new council for the year 2025–26 was elected on 15th June. The elected members are: Melissa Joseph (President), Abhay Joseph Reji (Vice President), Ferdinand Joy Biju (General Secretary), Animesh Zacharia (Secretary), Jeffrin Thankachan (Treasurer), Tania Paul (Cultural Secretary), Alfred Josmi (Sports Secretary), and Councillors Ciya Maria James and Joel B. John.

The newly appointed council began their term with enthusiasm and a clear vision. They started by planning events for the year ahead and preparing for the Youth Choir auditions—an initiative aimed at discovering budding singers within the parish and providing them with a platform to showcase their talents.
